Two calculators for the questions you keep half-answering
Counting months across 28, 30 and 31 day stretches, or trying to remember where a BMI of 24.9 falls, is easy to get wrong in your head. These two tools do the careful part for you and show the result in plain terms.
What each tool gives you
- Age Calculator works out exact age in years, months and days from a date of birth to today or to any other date you pick. It also shows the days left until your next birthday and your age in total days, weeks, hours and seconds, and it handles leap-day birthdays correctly.
- BMI Calculator takes height and weight in metric or imperial units, shows your BMI on a colour-coded scale with its WHO category, and gives a healthy weight range for your height.
Using the results sensibly
Age. The "age on a given date" option is the useful one for real paperwork: school admissions, exam eligibility, insurance and job applications often hinge on how old someone is on a specific cut-off date, not today. Enter that date and read off the exact answer.
BMI. The WHO adult ranges are below 18.5 for underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 for a healthy range, 25 to 29.9 for overweight and 30 or above for obese. Treat the number as a screening tool, not a diagnosis. BMI uses only height and weight, so it cannot tell muscle from fat, and athletic people can score high with little body fat. The ranges apply to adults, as children and teenagers are assessed against age-based growth charts. If a result worries you, a doctor can look at the full picture.
